Sir Gurion Behr of Lionslair Memorial
I know it's a cliche to say it, however it was true, Sir Gurion Behr of Lionslair was larger than life. A Leonberger, Behr weighed in at 205 pounds! Yes, 205 pounds. Now I'm sure those of you who own or have owned Leonbergers will think; 'They over fed him.' 'He was fat.' They must have tried to make him big.' None of these are true. Behr just happened to be a ginormous Leonberger.

I remember the first time our new vet saw him. He eyed Behr and said, "Your dog is overweight. I can tell you that right now." After touching Behr from head to toe he said, "On second thought, I've never felt a dog so muscular and huge in my entire life. I'll bet there isn't an ounce of fat on him."

Boy did I know he was huge when Behr wanted to lie lengthwise on my body. When my husband or I were in foul moods, he'd lay on us and lick us until we laughed and laughed. I felt owned by Behr when he did that.

I still miss him today even though I now have another Leonberger named Bailey. Behr was our first Leo. We will never forget him. We brought him home from the breeders on July 12, 1997. Coincidently, Bailey was born July 12, 2008.
